Go-Ang-Pratunam Chicken Rice @ NEX Singapore

Go Ang Pratunam, one of the most famous chicken rice in South East Asia. For those who visit Bangkok, should know the uniqueness of this Chicken Rice. Succulent chicken and highlight of the dish, the chili.

Long queue on the sunny hot day in Bangkok, you should see this line in front of their store near Platinum Bangkok. They are just branching out to Singapore and had open first ever stall in Serangoon NEX, Singapore.

We decided to give it a try and compare with the original. Honestly, I kind of forgotten how it tasted like back in Bangkok, but the chili still mingle in my mind as it was unique. You’ll see what I mean in couple of lines below.

For diners, please take a note, this restaurant located at the address below

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice
Nex Shopping Mall

The line is crazy most of the time, so if you plan to come here during lunch or dinner time, please prepare to wait.

So here it was. Price wise, I would say it’s acceptable SGD $4.5 for a plate of chicken rice in the nice air condition restaurant, and if you are thinking to get the drumstick, it’s gonna cost you slightly more SGD $5.

As you can see,it did not reassemble the normal chicken rice, for those that stay in Singapore. It normally comes with the red, sour and spicy chili, garlicky for sure. This one? black, I think there’s some fish sauce there, cut of bird eye chili and garlic.

Rice alone, I would give it an 8, tasty not over powering. Chicken, quite plain without the chili it did not have any specific characteristic. I give it a 6. Chili, star of the show, I give it an 8, unique and it brings out the flavor of the chicken. Soup, clean and almost tasteless, although I can taste lil bit of chicken flavor and pepper.

Overall, just for the Chicken Rice, 7.5.

They do have some other food in their menu, but I will keep that for other visit. Definitely will come back for the Chicken Rice and other food. Please give them a visit, it’s definitely worth to try.

PS: They have baby chairs so it’s quite child friendly but it could get loud during the busy period.

I’ll see you next time.
